Last year, on March 28th, it was my boyfriend's birthday and he picked Ray's on the River for us to go to dinner. When we got there we walked outside to take a picture while we were waiting on our food.
When we got out there he made a joke about us getting engaged and then started acting really serious about it. I kept saying no because this was completely spur of the moment and he hadn't talked to my dad. We got our picture taken and went back inside to eat and neither one of us could concentrate so he disappears and goes to call my dad for permission and then calls me to come outside again to meet him. We had just gotten our food and I was worried about the waiters thinking we left without paying, but I finally went outside and we walked over to the side and he proposed with my grandmother's engagement ring that I had been wearing on my right hand.
We went back inside and instead of eating we asked to get our food to go and pay the bill and leave. I'm sure the staff thought we were nuts with constantly leaving and tears in our eyes but it was the best way he could have proposed, with neither of us expecting that when we went to dinner. We have been married now for 4 months!
